What is the best way to teach science or mathematics to young kids? My kid has just started studying "fractions" in his class, and I find it difficult to make him understand 1/2, 1/3 or so. I am apprehensive that this would be even more difficult when he goes to higher classes.

|I am in the same boat and couldn't agree more. I feel we should start with some examples which are fun to him. Take a pizza, cut it in half and say we are dividing this into 2 parts (1/2). Then say you should not eat this much in one go, split the half in 2 parts again. Then show how it became 4 pieces (1/4) and how size is decreasing (1/2 is more than 1/4 and so on). Take him for cycling and explain why he has to exert so much force to start, and once he gains speed how easy it has become to go|
