|Deepak Mishra : Should kids start preparing for competitions before Class X||Oct 13, 2017 06:35 am|
There is a growing trend of putting kids in Competition preparation classes as early as Class VIII or even Class VI. Whether the kids get any benefit or not, but the coaching classes are definitely thriving on that. Ideally kids should learn on their own till Class X and gain basic understanding of Science, Mathematics etc. After that, depending on their inclination, they should take these classes. They don't teach anything other than some tricks to solve problems. Those tricks are most effective when one has a solid foundation on the basics.

|I totally agree. Parents shouldn't fall in this trap and teach themselves till Class X. The focus should be generating interest in the subject and good understanding. Competition preparation needs certain kind of techniques and skills, but that should be after Class X.|

|I am curious to know what do they teach a class VIII students in these classes. Most of the competitions are based on Class 10 and 11 curriculum, then what kind of preparation happens before that :)|

|I think that Kids have very good learning curve while they are young. If they start early they would have very good foundation and also it will increase their exposure to complexity.|
